Since there seems to be some discussion about programs needed in this hobby of ours, why not to have a topic for it? Very Happy

If this is in the wrong place, please forgive me.

Audio stream recording program for Mac: WireTap Studio

Download at:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Unfortunately it's only 30 days trial but the best free one that I've found so far. Please tell me if you find a good freeware program.

Records on mute, and you can choose the source program (for example Safari) and the program records only the sounds that the specific program produces, straight from the soundcard. Easy to use, yet has good options.

I have a free, simpler version of WireTap on my old mac, but when I tried to move it to my new one it wouldn't work. I did try installing WireTap pro too but it kept saying I couldn't use it because I lacked some hardware thingy... I didn't really understand what or how I could obtain it. That's strange. Unfortunately my mac-knowledge may not be sufficient to help you.

How new is your Mac, and which version were you installing?

(WireTap pro 1.3.2 Operating System Requirements:
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
Mac OS X 10.3.9
Mac OS X 10.3
Additional Requirements:
Mac OS X 10.3 or later)

I have WireTap Studio 1.1.1,
(System Requirements
Macintosh
Mac OS X 10.4 or later, QuickTime 7.0 or later, 1GHz G4 or faster, or any Intel Mac)
and it works well, you might try that one. (I have Mac OS X 10.5.Cool

I did try downloading WireTap Everywhere (or whatever it was called) but I couldn't figure out how it worked or why it was necessary (since it apparently needed another recording software to actually record). I then tried to google my way to another software instead of going through download.com, and found something called Audio Hijack Pro. I'm trying the demo now, all functions included except for a 10 minute HQ recording limit - after that the quality decreases.

The license is not very expensive (I found WireTap studio to be a little above my budget), so I think I'm gonna go with this one. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have now purchased a license for Audio Hijack Pro, it works brilliantly [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I'm all set to record tomorrow... given that I figure out what time it is.... is France in the same time zone as UK??

I've noticed that when I use the Listen Again player on radiofrance there is no volume control in the player itself.. of course I can adjust the master volume on the mac and change gain in the recorder software but that doesn't help the fact that the audio in the player is set to full blast - it crackles like broken speakers and ruins the listening experience. Strangely enough the live player does have a volume control, but in this case I wasn't able to listen live so I was stuck with it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] sorry, had to vent...Does anyone happen to know if there is any way to get around this problem?
