Astarto,

I think you are one of the best informed people here in the forum Laughing
At least I didn`t know...
Thank you for the information - although Bremen is quite far away for me.
He should perform on saturdays - that would it make possible for me to visit wink
I suppose it will be Acis and Galatea from Händel - in english? Do you know this?

Um, yes, Nenuphar, that may be. Actually, it will be Nicola Porpora´s "Polifemo"!!!
hello
With Philippe as Aci, of course. As far as I know, it will be a staged version even! As far as I know, it should be in Bremen in the first half of 2014. So Philippe´s fans in Germany, especially in northern Germany, really have something to look forward to!

Hmmm, it seems that there is no CD until now with the complete "Polifemo" from Porpora....
In the internet I only find many many "Alto Giove" and beside that "Senti il fato" and "Oh volesser gli Dei" (I suppose you now the Moscow videos on youtube!)
Do you know the whole opera ? (you have such an immense musical knowledge and background - I'm quite sure you know it.... Very Happy )

Please, to avoid the rumors, put the link about " Polifemo" here on forum.
Otherwise it can´t become "already general knowledge" and will still remain " a secret".

Hi, people!

Does anyone know anything about the 30th November date for "Artaserse" in Bilbao? It would be helpful to know where the concert is taking place and when booking opens.

Thanks in advance.

About Artaserse in Cologne
The start of the ticket sale for the representations of the opera in Cologne has been delayed, due to a political argument which is taking place at Cologne these days, dealing with the financial means of the opera. There is in fact no public budget for the opera at the monent. So the opera delayed the ticket sale for the whole forthcoming season 2012/2013. Don't worry, they think it will start in about two weeks.

hello horseman

It is not secret, Jana: The news that Philippe will play the role of Atis in the "Polifemo" of Porpora is in the booklet accompanying the DVD of "Orlando Furioso" (Naïve) in the short biography of Philippe.
Says:
"… and in the near future the role of Aci in Porpora's Polifemo, once sung by the illustrious Farinelli" reverence

I've just found out (via e-mail from the Opéra de Lorraine) that booking for "Artaserse" in Nancy opens on September 11th; I guess that's when they deal with all the bookings for the 2012/2013 season.

The tickets still aren't on sale via Web, you can call the ticket office of the opera,
I made a reservation and will get an information when the official sale starts so that
I don't have to care about buying tickets in time anymore. I'm not sure if they speak other languages than German. The phone number is: 0049 221 22 12 84 00

Nenuphar,
don't worry. You didn't miss so much. This interview was made when PhJ gave a concert in Prague some time ago, with pieces of Zelenka....He talks about the castrati in general and the composer.
Dear native french speakers, please check if I'm right. flowers

Yes, Duffy is correct. Ph. J. doesn't say anything here that he has not said before. He talks quite extensively about Zelenka, a composer he had only previously known in his studies at the conservatoire, and also about the freedom of ornamentation and transposition given in baroque music. I can translate if anyone really wants ...

Duffy, Artemis,

thank you for your informations about the content - I've just googled "Philippe Jaroussky Prague" to see if I could get some more informations about the concert (I have my ticket already embrace ) and when I found this interview I've been a little bit too rash thinking it may concern the Prague concert of this year....
(I've got some of his statements about castrati and Zelenka, but reading a french interview is much easier for me than to follow the speech tempo of this charming native speaker... roll eyes )

Does anybody know the program of the September 12 event???

Maybe the site should be updated...last info is from 2010...

And why, if I may ask, is his site so incomplete? I anyone wants to know anything, he had best come and visit the forum, because his own official site is, ehm, lacking, to say the least.

Don't these people have any feeling for sales? Where are the reviews, where are the interviews, where are the feature films, where are the "bootleg" video's of performances, where are the recordingsessions? What about a decent chapter of scores for the people who like to read music as well as hear it? They are old and in the free domain. Where are the links to afiliates, such as l'Arpeggiata? Where is the background information on all these rather unique projects he does? In short: where is everything that is now appearing on YT with copyright infringement? If it were on his own site, that would not be necessary.

If you click on an album, all you can do is order it or download it immediately. I would like to hear some samples first, just like Amazon, and then decide if I want to buy it or not. So now I go to Amazon, listen, and then buy it (or not) from Amazon. But that is one customer EMI loses to Amazon or other re-sellers, every time, because the site lacks this functionality.

Tour dates are incomplete and they appear on the site too late, when the concert is almost sold out already. I mean, EMI knows it at least a year in advance! Can people click on a link to the booking office now? Would be a nice gadget. Easier than checking on all these concerthouses one by one continuously....

Caroline, you're soooooooo right!!!! About the concert dates, and the tickets, the reviews, the links, everything....
If it weren't for this forum and some YT channels (including Jana's) I'd never had found out so many things about him. Maybe I'd have bought a couple of CDs and that's it. I certainly wouldn't have travelled across Europe to see him live!!!!
Not only Jaroussky, I discovered other artists aswell and I'm planning to travel for concerts when I can afford it.
Someone in EMI isn't doing his/her job properly....Unless of course they don't give a damn about classical music because the big money is on Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber...
And yes, most of the albums I bought on amazon and a french site (don't remember its name right now but had better prices for some albums blush )...

Mr. Vivaldi,

Even the site you mention (Philou's agent), although better than the EMI website, contains some inaccuracies - for example, they fail to mention that the performances of "Artaserse" in Luxembourg have been cancelled and do not list some of the performances of "Artaserse" that will be taking place - at the Opéra de Lausanne on 23rd and 25th of November. In the past, I have relied on Les Concerts Parisiens for information but they seem to be getting rather slapdash lately ...

They used to be Cencic's agent, by the way, but Max changed to another agency.

On second thought: EMI has nothing to gain by Philippes concerts. They just want to sell CD's. It is the booking agent that deals with the concert agenda.

So, maybe a prominent link where everyone can find it on the EMI site to the agent's site? And then it is up to the agent, because they are the best informed.

I should have liked to hear this concert in Versailles.
I sent a message to "Château de Versailles-Spectacles" : unfortunately, it is a private concert, non bookable. Perharps, I'll could go to Vichy .....

You are right, Vivaldi, is originally an aria from Act I of Riccardo Primo Re d'Inghilterra, but also part of the opera Oreste, a pastiche of various works of Handel.

Good afternoon PJ's fans !!!

As I didn't know where to post this message I choose this topic, but you can move it if I'm wrong.

I just wanted to share my HUUUGE hapiness with you since I have booked my seat to the oratorio "Artaserse" to see Philippe Jaroussky, Max Emanuel Cencic and Wiliam Christie on December 13th in Paris !!!

First I planed to go to Vichy to see him this summer but logistics was a bit complicated, and the concert with L'Arpeggiata in Lyon in January "Los Pajaros Perdidos" was sold out. I am glad this 3rd attempt was the good one.

Here are some information about this concert :

Vinci : Artaserse
Avec Max Emanuel Cencic, le Concerto Köln & Diego Fasolis
2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 novembre à Nancy, Opéra de Lorraine
20 novembre à Vienne, Theater an der Wien
23 & 25 novembre à l’Opéra de Lausanne
30 novembre à Bilbao, Teatro Arriaga
11 & 13 décembre à Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées
17, 19 & 27 décembre à l’Opéra de Cologne

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Hope to meet some of here !!!

See you soon. Cidy
