Eric Zemour (the one without a beard) tells Philippe that he has been fascinated by his voice.
He says : "je suis sans voix", which means, I cannot even speak, it's too much. Even if he states that he prefers operas from the 19th century. He tries to say that baroque music is nowadays a big "hit" because it is more economical ! (It needs less musicians) but Philippe is not OK with this statement. He says Baroque music is loved by the public because this is good music and simple to listen to (as an example he speaks of the Aria da capo).
Eric Zemour as well as the other journalist, Eric Nolleau, always refer to countertenors as castrati. They say that for people who know nothing about it ("béotiens") men who sing with high voices are "castrati".
Those two journalists usually are quite "naughty" to the people they receive.
With Philippe, they were very kind. I think they were very much impressed.

Thanks for the video , I saw it already tonight and was quite confused again- they don´t allow Philippe to finish even one phrase ! I can´t understand this kind of " nice conversation" - they have in their studio one of the most talented, interesting, intelligent , knowing , beautiful as also famous musician - let him speak a little about his beloved subject, let him give a bit information to the "naughty" audience, who don´t know nothing about " castrati" yet!

Watching the video, I think Philippe was relatively well treated !
It's a pity he could not speak more about his passion, that's true. For Laurent Ruquier (the one leading the "show") the most important information seemed to be that the Caldara CD was "disque d'or", which means that a lot of copies have already been sold.

These two programs were odious.
I am very disappointed that Philippe has agreed to participate and be treated like a freak by people as vulgar as the TV hosts.

I guess, these TV - appearances were organised by his recording - label and not quite without the idea of a wide advertisement of his CD´s. An good idea for itself, but not necessarily by this kind of TV - shows.
I think also, that Philippe participate such kind of shows just because of his good will to try to explain to the really wide and unexperienced in these matter audience the core of his sight on the baroque ( classical) music in the hope, that some few people would have the ears and the soul open for his faithfully trying... And these few would be also a big win.

I once read an interview where Philippe stated his views on the television medium, it was very clever only I've lost the article.. plus I was only able to read it thanks to google translate so it may not have been 100% accurate, but I think he said that he liked TV in general, that he grew up watching TV a lot and didn't mind using that medium in his career. He also mentioned he was once interviewed in a TV show alongside a porn actress and a footballer, a strange combination but he seemed to enjoy the contrast if I remember correctly.

Allow me to tell you that Philippe would not want to read only praise and adoration on this forum. Good criticism is what all genuine artists want to hear…

Is not the first time that Jaroussky participates in this kind of shows; I'm sure, as Jana said, that there are the recording labels that organize.

I have not endured to see the whole program of Canal , but I've enjoyed the "on- n-est pas couché" because of the mastery and skill shown by Jaroussky. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

He always knows how to answer with convincing arguments to the questions, sometimes a little poisoning, made by the interviewers. He shows his intelligence, courtesy, sympathy, sincerity and "savoir faire".

I think if one can consider such shows as a certain challenge, Philippe copes with it excellent, and it should please. As the sincere, clever and fair person he highlights in true light those who surrounds him (and they play only against themselves). But thus I can't not to feel some awkwardness, looking at this... Though seeing Philippe is always the big joy
